These bowls have been made for hundreds of years in the territory of Carchi, Ecuador. They range from simple designs to more complex artwork symbolizing everyday activities, animals from the region, geometric patterns, and sacred motifs.
The earth from this region is fertile and rich in nutrients. If you look very closely, you can see the little specks of gold inside the clay, making these bowls very special.
