Aycha Nanay: Echo of the Wound (Pendant and Earring Set)
Echo of the Wound is a wearable meditation on the quiet, often unspoken pain surrounding men’s reproductive health. Created by Marcos Arcentales (Mestizo) artist, the piece merges organic and industrial materials to embody both tenderness and tension.
Laser-cut acrylic forms sharp, deliberate contours — evoking the sharp pains felt on the body — while birchbark and cedarwood introduce breath, scent, and the memory of healing from the land. Copper, with its warmth and conductivity, flows through the work like lifeblood — a reminder of resilience and the body’s fragile circuitry.
Through this combination of natural and human-made textures, the artist reflects on how cultural silence and inherited trauma manifest in the body, inviting dialogue and empathy through adornment. Each piece becomes both armor and offering — a way to hold pain in the light.
Piece shown at Ndaki-ña, an all Indigenous jewelry exhibition as part of the official calendar of NYC Jewelery Week.

The elements of nature come together through Bone & Quill, created by Mestizo artist Marcos Arcentales.
Bone & Quill is part of a story called "The Condor meets the Eagle". It foretells how Indigenous peoples from the North and South will one day fly side by side in unity. Bone & Quill is inspired by this symbolism through the use of porcupine quills, elk and deer antler bone from the North. Copper and silver from the South, inlaid within aromatic palo santo (wood). Palo santo is traditionally used by Indigenous peoples of the South for smudging. There is great detail and craftsmanship in each piece. Each creation evolves from my personal journey in re-connecting with my Indigenous lineage.
