Designer Yana Manta (Kinoo Arcentales Cajas) takes inspiration from his kichwa roots, as well as his lifelong journey of navigating two worlds that have always felt like home: that of southern and northern indigenous communities, which are both distinct, yet sometimes carry similar teachings.

The crossed lines represent grandmother spider, protector, and teacher. The 8-point Sun that rises between the rivers and mountains in the textile represent the teachings of the sun; a lifebringer.

The row of warriors represents a character built by Kinoo, named Yanas. These are entities that exist on the border of a linear void, separating our current reality, and that of the future: a world in which the prophecy of the condor and eagle is realized, and everyone is ignited to protect both lands and peoples. Yanas are the pillars and protectors between these two worlds.

The design of these fabrics are a result of a lifetime of relearning a love for community, a love for the uplifting of all indigenous communities, whether you are from the north, south, east or west. These bags are meant to be worn proudly by all.
