Chakanas are present in diverse materials (pottery, textiles, jewellery, architecture) for centuries in many indigenous communities in South America. They remain us to look up life in different levels of growth (linked to our ancestors to project our present, and, look up for the future. It is also a reminder of our connection with the environment, respect to mother earth, air and water, and our relations (humans, plants and animals). In the 21st century, chakanas are also a symbol of independence and self-determination as indigenous peoples.
