Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirit Peoples face disproportionate violence on Turtle Island. Over 1,000 women and girls have been murdered in the past 30 years and there are more than 4,000 missing. These numbers increase year by year, with very little follow up and investigation. Families are left without answers and without justice. 100% of the proceeds from this T-Shirt will go towards supporting the families of MMIW in Treaty 3 territory, supported by a member of Asubpeeschoseewagong First Nation - Grassy Narrows.
The front part of this T-shirt is also a call to action to protect our life giver: water. Many indigenous communities still do not have access to clean water and are on water advisories, while waterways are simultaneously being poisoned by the extraction industry. This industry at the same time, pose a risk to surrounding communities, who see their women and girls disappear over and over again. In this way and many more, the fight for clean water is tightly linked to #MMIWG2S.
