Kirstie (A.K.A. Kirty Bird) is a mixed Indigenous (Métis)/settler artist and creator of Kirty Bird Beadwork. Growing up without knowledge of her Métis ancestry, Kirstie has found purpose working in Indigenous community, including supporting youth with addictions, mental health and education. Over the past year, beading has become good medicine in her journey to a sober life.
Beading has connected Kirstie to her ancestors, to the land and to Indigenous women from all over Turtle Island. Sharing (he)artwork brings Kirstie pride and confidence in who she is as a mixed woman.
