Llamas are integral to traditional Andean ways of life. Their wool has been used for making woven textiles for hundreds of years. They aid in transportation and working the land. This llama features spondylus, a shell mostly found in Ecuador, but has been traded across the americas, and became very popular amongst the peoples of southwestern US. In the north it is known as spiny oyster and comes in orange, red, and purple hues.
